FASHIONCORE There are always bands that somehow are mentioned only in fashion magazine: fashion folk seem to like them a lot, but that's pretty much it. Who really has heard Vive La Fete, the electroclash Belgian group that Karl Lagerfeld championed? (Especially when the field is already crowded with Soviet, A.R.E. Weapons, Adult., Fischerspooner and a whole bunch of names that are already soooooo 2002.) Anyway, here is a fashion feature about the Darkness, stadium rockers from England who truly look and dress the part with tight pants, animal prints and long hair that would make Kip Winger truly envious. They're apparently big in the UK, although I don't know if they'll ever hit here - we already have Andrew W.K. to fulfill our stadium rock irony quota. Still, if you've ever longed to be that chick in the Whitesnake video who did the splits on the hood of a car, this may be the lighter for all your metal chick fantasies. And completely unrelated: a how-to guide on electroclash. File this away for the electroclash revival in 2007. Posted by Kat
