Random Picture Entry: Paparazzi Pictures in Airports
I'm not really an InTouch or Us Weekly kind of girl, and often I fail to see what's so interesting about Eva Longoria getting out of her jeep in sweats or Shiloh drooling in her stroller -- which is the bread and butter of those magazines. However, this isn't to say that I'm not a sucker for certain subgenres of random celebrity snapshots, my favorite being those that get taken in international airports. Part of it is sociological -- I think airports are probably one of the most fashion-challenging environments, because they're such uncomfortable spaces and it brings out everyone's inner slob or refugee. It's fascinating to see how people with all the resources on the earth deal with the indignities of travel now, and it's really no better or worse than the rest of us. It's gotten to the point where I swear that certain airports bring out certain qualities -- people tend to look their best coming through LAX, whereas New York-Kennedy makes people look harried and thrown-together in not a good way. (Which doesn't surprise me -- I hate flying out of Kennedy.) Heathrow's a crap shoot; I have a theory that if the star in question is Europe- or London-based, they look pretty polished, but otherwise everyone looks like a mess, probably because going through customs and stuff can suck. Anyway, onto the photographic evidence...
