Imaginary Shopping Spree: Ashley Watson, Lullie Vintage, LJ Takes Topshop Pt. II
An Ashley Watson bag is just ten times cooler than any designer behemoth that Carrie Bradshaw would carry. For one thing, it's equally at home at a club or on a rooftop, elevating even a t-shirt and ratty jeans type of outfit into something alluringly louche and chic. And Vancouver-based Watson makes each bag from recycled leather jackets by hand, so it's absolutely eco in all the best ways. Me, I love her bags because it makes me happy to look at them; I covet them so, because having one in your arsenal of sartorial goodies would be like having the ultimate secret weapon of style -- and who doesn't want one of those? It kind of broke my heart when I missed out on the faux-snow-leopard fur hooded jacket Mama Stone Vintage auctioned off a little while back, and I haven't really been able to go back to Mama Stone since then. I'm sure I'll get over it eventually, but for now I'm lurking around Lullie's eBay store and fawning over these lovely outrageous things most of all: (left to right) polka stripe deep-V mini-dress, high-waist sequin beaded boho skirt, deep-V empire boho mini-dress, hippie tunic mini-sundress. In case you've forgotten, it was intense winter-related boredom that prompted me to kick off the wild world of nogoodforme Imaginary Shopping Sprees with a Topshop.com binge-fest last February.
Lucky for me, it is no longer February, though apparently even perfect summer weather is not enough to keep me from obsessively playing on the Internet. Also lucky for me, enough time has passed since I last rummaged through the Topshop closet for cheapie goodies that the site's merchandise has been turned over entirely.
