Imaginary Shopping Spree: Kate Spade on K/Speed, Nimli Eco-Fashion Sale X-Travaganza KATE SPADE ON K/SPEED IS THE NEW J.CREW ON J.CRACK I am more than pleased to unveil KATE SPADE ON K/SPEED, the new-fangled star-spangled Little Sister Concept of the time-honored Laura Jane Faulds-endorsed sartorial principle that is J.Crew on J.Crack. Basically, I'm all about subverting preppiness. The Subverted Preppy Mentality basically involves purchasing 70% of one's non-thrifted wardrobe at J.Crew, thinking Ralph Lauren Rugby is legitimately awesome, and, as of today: majorly championing the upside of blowing one's odd paycheck on goodies from Kate Spade. Kate Spade has a sense of humor, something always appreciated by the ngfm.com troika; what's more, when paired with scrappy-crappy dungarees and ripped-up tees, Kate Spade accessories have the potential to scream WHIMSY and make you look ten tonnes cooler than you already are, which I'm assuming is VERY, if you care about any of this at all. Since I know how tough life can be, I've taken the liberty of picking out my favorite K/Speed trinkets and telling you exactly how to wear them without looking like Taylor Momsen's dumpy, Hollister-addicted Little Sister Concept. (LJ)
Nimli's become sort of my go-to in terms of eco-fashion internet window shopping -- it's not super-cutting edge, but it caters to a wide variety of fashion aesthetics, ranging from standard-issue yoga devotee to yr typical LES type of hipster. Plus: they often have super-awesome sales! In an impending recession where the higher prices of eco-fashion mean that this field will probably take a hit, it's good to know where to support sustainable fashion at prices that won't kill your budget. Boo to economic woes, but they're good opportunities to be a bit more resourceful with your know-how. Below: my favorite things currently on sale at Nimli (read below the jump for links and info.) Don't you love how they could almost all go together? That's how I roll. (Kat)
1. The Bahar Shahpar schoolgirl dress is super-adorable -- wear it with leggings and a cardigan for winter and then flaunt it in its full glory in the springtime. In a complete BTW, Bahar and I lived in the same freshman dorm at college, so I always get a wee bit of rare alma mater pride for her doing so well these days. Bahar was always a cool girl! 2. We've sweated these Cri de Coeur Chloe flats before, but we still love them. I know, it's winter, but I think I would get these and just save them up for springtime -- they'll be just as cute and au courant then. Vegan shoes, people! Think offseason! 3. I've been wanting a blue cropped jacket like this Myth & Ritual one all fall. I caved and got one at Urban Outfitters, but now I wish I held out and waited for this one, which is fair-trade and eco-friendly and will probably last years longer. 4. This is such a purdy black dress from our old favorites FIN. Super-classy and swingy, this is so charmingly Audrey Hepburn that you can't help but love it. 5. The Battalion is a new eco-fashion discovery for me; their stuff seems to work well for the Anglomaniacs out there. This item is not so Anglomaniacal, but I love this cocoon-y jacket. This is one of the few non-sale items I picked out; it's cozy for fall, but kind of swingy for spring as well. 6. Edun silk top! Edun's almost such a no-brainer: they're always contemporary, stylish, a bit dark, and their silk items are superb. This top was worn by Serena on "Gossip Girl," but don't let that get in the way. 7. I think this Uluru sack dress is super-superb, and those of you who are on the Dries/Martin Margiela/general Belgian awesomeness tip but can't deal with the escalating price of European imports will appreciate the perfect proportions and fit 'n hang of this dress. I really want it: you could wear it as a tunic, belt it and wear it as a mini-dress, layer it as shown with a turtleneck or even a striped top. Versatile and timeless. 8. Ah, yes, Beau Soleil again. This nightie dress is casual and loose; I'd wear it with leggings and a big ol' shawl-scarf around my neck, but I think it could work in warmer temps with some sandals and boho-type of jewelry. 9. I initially passed over this blouse from Zoica Matei because I'm not really a white button-down type of girl, but then I took a closer look and appreciate the graceful, easy lines and the crispness of the fabric. It's not on sale as well, but at $90 it's a reasonable price for a quality, timeless item that some might get lots of wear out of. Not me: I just spill things on myself when I wear white shirts. (By the way, dudes, use the code "FALL08" at checkout at Nimli (until 11/23/08) and get an additional 20% off your order.) Posted by Kat

Say something so insightful and witty, it will blow us away. (No pressure.)
Got something to say? We'd love to hear it! Name, email and "type in the weirdo drunken text" thingie are all required to comment; don't worry, we won't email you or anything, we just want to make sure you're not an evil spambot. Keeping in mind the good-times mentality we like to keep going here, we've worked hard to keep NOGOODFORME.COM as fun as possible. We welcome all kinds of comments, but insults/abuse/general bitchery are not tolerated. In other words, we put the smackdown on evil troll posts. If you want to be a hater, please go elsewhere. Now, as Salt 'N Pepa say, "Only the sexy people..."
