United Colors of Get Me the Hell Out of Winter: Stuff That Cheers Me Up In the Midst of All This Grey
I'm a big neutrals person when it comes to my own wardrobe: they just make everything easier, and together with pretty blues, mauves, and dusty, muddy roses, they make me feel calm, relaxed and practical, which are qualities I find more and more useful the more complicated life gets. Winter comes along with its relentless grey, though, and I find that it really messes with my commitment to my native palette. Suddenly I'm like: Pineapple yellow! Sherbet pink! Mint green! Cornflower blue! Usually I get my mid-winter color fix by buying super-bright knickers in crazy patterns, but lately I like the idea of these invading the sanctity of my carefully curated closet:
DAYDREAM NATION BRACELET, pixiemarket.com
This bracelet is ridiculously cool -- and who can argue with a company that names themselves after a famously great Sonic Youth album? Well, some of us here at nogoodforme can, because we have a semi-famously ambivalent relationship to Sonic Youth. But I theorize that we would all go somewhat nutsy over this bracelet -- I can see ALL THREE OF US rocking this piece. LJ and Liz, am I right? Or am I just hallucinating from my detox fast?

HAYDEN-HARNETT FOR TARGET CANVAS HOBO BAG, target.com
I love this bag. It makes me happy to look at the yellow and the blue flowers -- it's like a frickin' Bonnard painting. I'm thinking of getting it and using it as a laptop bag because mine currently sucks.

"PAINTERLY" BB DAKOTA DRESS, fredflare.com
I have so many dresses that I've put myself on a strict frock fast. And honestly, I'm not sure if I'd wear this -- but I could buy it and hang it up on my wall, right? Why not? Maybe I could get it and make one of my friends wear it to make me happy.

JANE SUEDE BALLET FLATS, jcrew.com
The idea of color on my feet slightly horrifies me because I have icky-feet consciousness from years of dance and think they're deformed from all those abusive Russian ballet teachers. However, I've been sweating these flats in a gorgeous, vibrant shade of blue for so long that I think I may have to dive in. I also love them in the yellow and the papaya orange, but that may be too much for a color-footwear-averse person such as myself. Baby steps, literally...

THAKOON FOR TARGET CAMO PRINT TEE, target.com
Yeah, I know, another Target item! And honestly, this was one of those things that I totally thought I didn't like but suddenly had this weird insane love for once I saw it in person. I can't explain it myself, other than to say that the colors and prints reminded me of a shirt my mother wore when I was a kid. Thakoon is Thai, so am I and somehow we are all connected.

(By the way, how awesome would it be if someone wore ALL THESE THINGS in one outfit? If I saw you on the street with all these on, my heart would burst and I would hug you silly. Bring joy to the world! Wear color! Yay!)

Say something so insightful and witty, it will blow us away. (No pressure.)
Got something to say? We'd love to hear it! Name, email and "type in the weirdo drunken text" thingie are all required to comment; don't worry, we won't email you or anything, we just want to make sure you're not an evil spambot. Keeping in mind the good-times mentality we like to keep going here, we've worked hard to keep NOGOODFORME.COM as fun as possible. We welcome all kinds of comments, but insults/abuse/general bitchery are not tolerated. In other words, we put the smackdown on evil troll posts. If you want to be a hater, please go elsewhere. Now, as Salt 'N Pepa say, "Only the sexy people..."

I am really sorry I neglected to comment on this entry until now. I was 100% positive that I already had. Yes, I would rock this bracelet. As a matter of fact, it was the seventh-runner-up for my Pixie Market ISS from awhile back.
