Snapshot: Listening, Watching, Reading, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere; Lync, These Are Not Fall Colors; the awesome mix tape (YES A CASSETTE) that my friend gave me last week full of metal-y goodness; and a bunch of other things I will tell you about later this weekend
Watching: The seder episode of "Gossip Girl," which didn't make me want to kill myself as per usual, although it was pretty teeth-gnashing-inducing anyway. Maybe I am getting used to the ludicrosity of the show now? Also I watched The Other Boleyn Girl and thought it was just ridiculousness all around, although I do love a good costume drama. And the "trailer" for my school's film festival afterparty below.
Reading: Oooh! Lots to report here: "A Doll's House" and "Hedda Gabler" by Henrik Ibsen, which naturally I both adored; Shopgirl by Steve Martin (why did I not read this earlier? It's super, really, effin' good...); the models-centric issue of the new Vogue, which I threw across the room in an effort to combat boredom (although a big yay for the THIRD MONTH IN A ROW that a woman of color is on the cover...I guess they are making up for lost time); and I'm still dipping in and out of How I Grew by Mary McCarthy
Wearing: Dry cleaners actually did save my favorite stripe-y Veronique Branquinho shirt, so I'm wearing that in celebration, along with Uniqlo skinny jeans, ballet flats and a cropped pea coat-y jacket from Armani.
Wanting: I want you all to come to the afterparty after my film screening next week in NYC! The Dove Parlour in NYC, 10:30pm, 4/30/2009! DO IT. Oh, and to see Star Trek. Hello, Zachary Quinto!
I suspect this is too full of inside jokes to be funny to most people who don't go to my film school, but I had Directing 1 with this man and this is like a weirdly distilled version of what I learned in that class:
To make up for the inside joke-y stylee of the above clip, here is a clip of "Frantic" live in the studio from Metallica. Also I would like to formally announce that Some Kind of Monster made Kirk Hammett my favorite member of Metallica and made me never want to be in the same room as Lars Ulrich. And that Guitar Hero: Metallica is really, really fun:
+ Liz
Listening: Icky Thump by The White Stripes; Desire by Bob Dylan; Tonight's the Night by Neil Young (in a bookstore in Venice)
Watching: that Britney Spears video where she's almost the same as Will Ferrell impersonating Harry Caray (It never gets old!)
Reading: catching up on the New York issues I missed whilst in Massachusetts
Wearing: jeans + hot Vans + scoop-neck tank + flannel + beanie + pigtails + everything awesome as always
Wanting: This week I had much quality BFF time, sort of surfed, consumed pancakes and eggplant pizza and magical fish tacos and Emily Richmond's french fries (not all at once), got a full-body massage, went to the beach at least three times, drank beer by the ocean in Malibu at sunset, and ate a fancy imitation Hostess Cupcake at Joan's on Third while spying on Oscar from The Office (who, incidentally, was really adorable and "Office-caszh" in his hoodie and jeans). I WANT FOR NOTHING.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO TIME TRAVEL SPEED?
+ Laura Jane
Listening: IT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO TODAY, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, by The Beatles, is what I'm listening to, I mean; and Absolute Classic Masterpieces Vol. 1 by Felt
Watching: OMG I binge-watched every episode of The Hills Season 5 on Monday, that was killer; The Reader, which is boring to talk about because it's not trash; I'm totally into this "cycle" of America's Next Top Model, though on Wednesday I swore that I would literally commit suicide if Natalie got voted off, and she did, and I didn't commit suicide, so I'm not that invested
Reading: The TV& Showbiz section of dailymail.co.uk, which RULES; Really into Oak Glasses; Life is beautiful/life is depressing (from A Cup of Jo)
Wearing: I am growing my hair out, and it is at The Awkward Length- in between boy-short and a bob, AKA the ugliest hair length that no one would ever have if they weren't growing out their boy-short haircut. My two coping mechanisms are 1) pinning all my hair up in the back and then teasing the front into a pompadour, which is sort of fly, and 2) EXTREME HEADSCARF DEPENDENCE; also, the foliage-y swing coat I am wearing in the picture where I look like I am about to cry. People can't get enough of this jacket, but I'm mostly indiff.
Wanting: To be reunited with my Tamagotchi; for Michael Ian Black to add me back on Twitter for crying out loud; this, though I am creeped out by the presence of Vegenaise
THE PRESENT STATE OF MY HAIR- At left: What every single picture of me would look like if I were a contestant on America's Next Top Model, I bet; At right: Why are you so sad, Laura Jane? Is it because your hair is at an awkward length, or because it is drizzly, gloomy jacket weather? Or both?

Got something to say? We'd love to hear it! Name, email and "type in the weirdo drunken text" thingie are all required to comment; don't worry, we won't email you or anything, we just want to make sure you're not an evil spambot. Keeping in mind the good-times mentality we like to keep going here, we've worked hard to keep NOGOODFORME.COM as fun as possible. We welcome all kinds of comments, but insults/abuse/general bitchery are not tolerated. In other words, we put the smackdown on evil troll posts. If you want to be a hater, please go elsewhere. Now, as Salt 'N Pepa say, "Only the sexy people..."

Laura Jane - The Daily Mail showbiz section is amazing. They get the best pictures. Obviously you have to avoid the facist, sexist articles that accompany said pictures but still.

Laura! I can't tell you how pumped I am about the blog shout-out. Seriously, you have made my LIFE.
Seriously.
(Also, I apologize if this gets submitted 4 times or something. Computer wonky.)

Laura Jane - Felt! Good stuff! And also wanted to tell you that ever since your Russian-dogs-on-the-subway post, I've been addicted to English Russia. By living in Canada, I've been missing out on some ridiculous stuff.

felt and laura jane totally make sense! if you can handle the 80s reverb. they really hit the nail on the head in accuracy of actual cool. don't forget to possibly try and get their albums singularly- they are masterpieces unto themselves. with wonderful titles "let the snakes crinkle their heads to death", "splendour of fear", etc. the lyrics just as well. i'm jonesing for a NGFM music related post, clearly!!
