Snapshot: Listening, Watching, Reading, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: In my building, someone is listening to some really weird noise music and it is kind of cool. Also: Bat for Lashes, Two Suns. I have nothing more to say about this record here, but perhaps I will expound upon it later.
Watching: Let the Right One In (one of my favorite films of 2008; holds up after repeated viewings, if only for beauty of the visuals and the elegance of the direction...but of course it's still a tender, if creepy, story, and aaaggggghhh, such perfect shots at the end!) Oh, and lots and lots of "30 Rock." My life is now seriously complete.
Reading: John Henry Days by Colson Whitehead, in anticipation of reading his new book, Sag Harbor soon. CANNOT WAIT.
Wearing: Agnes B. grey oxford shirt, skinny jeans, ballet slippers, same old, same old and I kind of don't care. I am all for the uniform these days.
Wanting: WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN? A hug would be a good start.
This is the first thing that pops up when you type "Asian kids being cute" in the YouTube search box:
+ Liz
Listening: Tonight's the Night by Neil Young has become my new sleepytime music. And Cat Power's You Are Free is my favorite springtime record, maybe. But mostly I just listen to radio and a "quick mix" of my Breeders, Belly, and Sonic Youth stations on Pandora.
Watching: the ADULT SCANDALS of Gossip Girl. And I've had Slumdog Millionaire for like 80 years but have yet to watch it, which I feel vaguely lame about. Though in a way it's fun to be one of five people on the planet who's yet to see Slumdog.
Reading: I'm going through a super-sad-YA-novels phase - first was The Year Without Michael by Susan Beth Pfeffer, and now I'm on A Summer to Die by Lois Lowry. Also: that Elle story about the woman who moves into a cave but can still bake cake.
Wearing: a wetsuit, or at least I did for five hours yesterday, 'cause that's how long I was in the ocean!
Wanting: my new surfboard to get here! And it's so summery and I want lavender-avocado vegan gelato, or at least Coldstone.
ISN'T IT WEIRD HOW SOMETIMES YOU FORGET THAT THE "CANNONBALL" VIDEO IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD????
+ Laura Jane
Listening: "You May Know Him" by Cat Power; Wonderwall Music by George Harrison
Watching: The episode of Entourage featuring Whitney Port on drums where Ari Gold tries to do business at a funeral (PS: Networking at LJ's Ultimate Deathfest 20?? is both permitted and encouraged); Kung Fu Panda, which was lame. However: my Dad and I have been trying to motivate ourselves to watch it togeths for a while month, but always flake out- so much that it has become a "thing" for me to say that something is the Kung Fu Panda of something else. Something is the Kung Fu Panda of something else when you don't really want to do it, but it's not that annoying, so you don't put enormous pressure on yourself to get it out of the way, and then it looms over your life for a month, until you watch Kung Fu Panda last night.
Reading: I really love Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier- I am about 2/3 of the way through it and totally sucked in, but I hate the narratrix. Why can't she be more self-confident?!?! Why can't she be more like Rebecca?!?!? Her inferiority complex is called for. Also: this Pipeline post about Mommies with good style is really rad.
Wearing: I haven't bought clothes in forevs, but I bought a bunch of clothes this week. I don't want to write about them, though, because my summer fashion concept will most likely be "The Clothes I Bought This Week" and I don't want to ruin that for Future Laura. In other news, I finally received the Ralph Lauren Crossbones Style LJF Polo I bought myself for Christmas, and it's the best-fitting polo evs. Hooorrrayyyyyskies.
Wanting: For everything to always work out exactly the way I want it to for the entire rest of my life starting this exact second.
SO J.CREW ON J.CRACK; ALSO- I'M SMILING IN A PHOTO!!!!

Tags: Ari Gold, Cat Power, gelato, George Harrison, Gossip Girl, J.Crew on J.Crack, Kung Fu Panda, Lois Lowry, my own death, Neil Young, Pandora, Ralph Lauren Rugby, Rebecca, surfing, The Breeders, Whitney Port, Wonderwall Music

Say something so insightful and witty, it will blow us away. (No pressure.)
Got something to say? We'd love to hear it! Name, email and "type in the weirdo drunken text" thingie are all required to comment; don't worry, we won't email you or anything, we just want to make sure you're not an evil spambot. Keeping in mind the good-times mentality we like to keep going here, we've worked hard to keep NOGOODFORME.COM as fun as possible. We welcome all kinds of comments, but insults/abuse/general bitchery are not tolerated. In other words, we put the smackdown on evil troll posts. If you want to be a hater, please go elsewhere. Now, as Salt 'N Pepa say, "Only the sexy people..."

Love the Breeders...had to pick a song in high school for a project and I chose Cannonball and everyone of course chose really shitty genericly crap top 40 songs..when mine played-the whole class shut up, it was so quiet and intense and there was such a weird vibe as if we were listening to alien music or something...kind of a hick class...needless to say the weird looks I'd always had gotten had escalated!! lol..i adore those Deal sistas!!
omfg LJF...I almost died laughing reading your list...you speak in abbreevs!!! (abbreviations ..duh, just in case..:P) I love it, I thought I noticed before but just now I Really noticed it.
My bf and I talk like that for everything...including adding 'skis to many words in our vocab, as in I'm having a fewski tonight! One thing we do too is we started adding BY's to certain words like from the name Byorn or whatevs... like let's go split a Byolt 45 or let's get byunk tonight, let's buy some byinks...hahah holy I really wanna get smashed by the sound of it...but not by Colt 45...never again.
You guys rock the big guns as per usual and I can't keep up...Have a wicked weekend and cheers to byinks!!!
p.s.- holy, sorry for the book....geez.

You make my day by talking about the awesome-ness of the Cannonball video and Kim Deal in general.

Here is a virtual hug for you, anyway, Kat. Sorry I don't actually know you to give you one in real life.

Wait, I'm reading John Henry Days too! It's because you tipped me off to The Intuitionist (which was just spellbinding, thank you) a while back, and now I'm trying to read all his work. (Despite them not getting as rave-reviews as his freshman attempt.)
