STOP THE PRESSES!: Emily Richmond is Sailing Around the World!
Out of all the cool things all the cool people I've ever known have done, sailing around the world definitely takes the coolest cake. Yes, it's true! Longtime nogoodforme.com Inner Circle member and collaborator Emily Richmond is circumnavigating our fair planet! In a boat! By herself! Emily Richmond is an all-star. I just hope she doesn't get too into the Amelia Earhart spirit and disappear forever. That would make us sad.
Emily's journey is set to begin in January of 2010; in the meantime, you can follow Emily's killer new circumnavigation-related blog, Bobbie Rounds the World (Bobbie is the name of Emily's boat!) for updates, info, cool pictures of other sailors, and excerpts from Willa Cather's memoirs.
Sadly for Emily Richmond, her best bros, Laura Jane Faulds and Elizabeth Barker of nogoodforme.com, are not billionaires (yet). If we were, we'd definitely pay for Emily's Grand Voyage, and probably come along for the ride, too. Laura Jane would wear a sailor suit; it'd be a jam. had i contributed to this post, i would've said something about how i'm heartbroken that emily 'switchfoot' richmond is soon to no longer be my surf partner, but how the upside to that might be a possible paving-of-the-way for brody jenner to become my (albeit inferior) surf partner. then i would've made a joke about how emily never gets my brody jenner references, and we all would've LOLed till the cows surfed home.
THEN, after all the LOL-ing was done, i would've told emily how proudly psyched i am for her, and how she will be very much missed, and how i'm going to start playing the lotto in hopes that she might name her dinghy either 'black eyes' or 'doc bastard' or 'barky bark.'
ALSO: it just occurred me that, for different reasons, i've jokingly addressed both emily and LJ as 'dad' in the past two weeks. lj + emily = MY TWO DADS! emily is paul reiser, btw. cool!

I am going to sail around the world some day too! My parents sailed around the world in 1971, and currently they're in the South Pacific (right at this moment). I have a sailboat, and live in Los Angeles. My boat is a bit too small (27 feet) to go around the world, at least IMO. Unfortunately, I have no money right now, but if she wants any help painting or varnishing, I would totally be down with that.
