Snapshot: Listening, Watching, Reading, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: Lately it has been about songs for me: "Human Nature" by Michael Jackson, "There's No Fucking Rules, Dude," by !!!, "Ethiopian Dream" by Lee Scratch Perry, "You Came To Me" by Beach House, "Garlands" by Tori Amos. I think this may be the second Tori Amos reference that nogoodforme ever made, actually. I'm not a Toriphile by any means, although I met her once and she was very, very nice. But occasionally I find my way into one or two of her songs and I'm like, "Shit, this is a beautiful song," and "Garlands" is one of them for me. Also: something special that I will tell you about on Sunday.
Watching: I'm still on my movie sabbatical. Cleansing the palate, so to speak. But I did watch the latest episode of "South Park" and the latest of "Gossip Girl." And I'm supposed to see the latest Werner Herzog this weekend, maybe. Oh, Werner! You so crazy! You get shot at and pull Joaquin Phoenix out of wrecks, and you're like, "Eh, zis is just life." I LOVE YOU CRAZY DUDE!
Reading: I Sold Andy Warhol (Too Soon) by Richard Polsky. Dude, if you ever told me that a book about dealing art and the art market in general would be riveting, dishy and a total awesome read, I would've doubted you. But I read this book in one fell swoop, that's how much I got caught up in it. Polsky, a dealer himself, goes through how the art world became an art market, where canvasses were being sold for tens and hundreds of millions of dollars, and it gives you a glimpse into what kind of rarefied world could make such rampant, greed-driven commodification possible. That makes it sound all theoretical and dry, but it completely isn't, because there's all kinds of insider dish and art world gossip. It's like sitting next to a really smart, vivacious, animated person at a dinner party, one who has their own bias and point-of-view, but is so entertaining and even incisive that you can't help but talk all night to them. If you're at all interested in "the art world," then I recommend it as a fun read.
Wearing: I am wearing denim shorts with black tights and black riding boots and my Martin Margiela sweater and it rocks. Liz, you can do it! (See her "Wearing" this entry...this Snapshot is very Barker-centered.)
Wanting: Homefires burning, and everything's all right...
This is Werner Herzog being interviewed by Henry Rollins. I know one of you out there will be kind of in love with this:
+ Liz
Listening: Easter by the Patti Smith Group, "Gimme Some Truth" by John, "Tomorrow" by Paul
Watching: on Tuesday night I saw Fantastic Mr. Fox, which is adorable but not overly cutesy, full of apples, and has a really cool wolf. After the screening Wes Anderson and Jason Schwartzman did a Q & A and they too were adorable but not overly cutesy. I am charmed by Wes Anderson's corduroy suit and his genuinely awkward demeanor. Also, the movie had the most beautiful animated apple-snap cookies I've ever seen.
Reading: the new issue of Elle which has an article on "gender disappointment" that totally horrified me and then made me feel really judgy.
Wearing: $2 Edun tank top + Kime Buzzelli Vans + my new corduroy shorts that I want to wear into the winter, but the thought of shorts + tights still skeeves me out due to scary early-90s memories of wearing white denim shorts with purple floral-print tights and having my geometry teacher make fun of me. HELP? Should probably note that the shorts are off-white.
Wanting: for tomorrow to get here now so I can fly/drive away to San Luis Obispo and soak my troubles away at Sycamore Springs
Wes Anderson's American Express ad, for old time's sake:
+ Laura Jane
Listening: OKAY YOU GUYS. Here is a REAL order of Beatles songs that my iPod played me while I was listening to the Beatles' entire discography on shuffle last night: "Here Comes the Sun", "It's All Too Much", "I Feel Fine", "Strawberry Fields Forever" demo, "Love Me Do", "Help!", "Cry Baby Cry". Like, way to GET people's underlying motivations for listening to the Beatles' entire discography on shuffle, my iPod!
Watching: I watched Beatles Anth 7 last night. It was nice to watch certain Beatles named Paul McCartney looking all sexy/non-disgusting without a beard and all
Reading: If I hypothetically had to ask one blogger to join the nogoodforme troika, thus making it not a troika but a "Beatles", it would be Lindsey J. Markel. Lindsey is writing a book and NEEDS YOUR HELP! Alls you have to do is tell her about being twelve! So easy! Let's help her!
Wearing: This is me stating for the official record that I really need to wear my glasses every single day for the entire rest of 2009, or November at least, because any time I wear my contacts I get myself into a really nasty Eye Infection Redux situation, and this is no longer acceptable to me
Wanting: for tomorrow to get here now so I can fly/drive away to San Luis Obispo and soak my troubles away at Sycamore Springs (HAHAHAHAHAHHA)
The nogoodforme Snapshot is now the corner of the Universe dedicated to sharing crappy Beatles videos with the world. Here is a really boring one significant only because it's SO CUTE to watch John Lennon cutely resting his cute head on Paul McCartney's cute shoulder!

Say something so insightful and witty, it will blow us away. (No pressure.)
Got something to say? We'd love to hear it! Name, email and "type in the weirdo drunken text" thingie are all required to comment; don't worry, we won't email you or anything, we just want to make sure you're not an evil spambot. Keeping in mind the good-times mentality we like to keep going here, we've worked hard to keep NOGOODFORME.COM as fun as possible. We welcome all kinds of comments, but insults/abuse/general bitchery are not tolerated. In other words, we put the smackdown on evil troll posts. If you want to be a hater, please go elsewhere. Now, as Salt 'N Pepa say, "Only the sexy people..."

Ohhhh, you know how it is, I just couldn't think of anything I was really "Wanting:" today, so I copy and pasted your thing into mine, and that was funny to me. Don't worry, I don't think soaking your troubles away at Sycamore Springs is lame or anything. Actually, I think it's awesome, and I'm jealous.
