Happy Cheer Up Keanu Day!
(Keanu, all superhappy because I love him so much and will continue to do so for as long as I live)
The weirdest thing about the existence of Cheer Up Keanu Day is that I didn't invent it. Cuz I'm about 99 percent certain that I'm the Internet's most vocal champion of the secret genius of Keanu Reeves - just do a site-specific search for "keanu" on Google, and you'll get no less than 99 results, most of which involve me being all "GAAAAAAHHHHHH, KEANU!!!!!!!!" The greatest hits:
-a mish-mash of Keanu goodness, which documents my 2007 spotting of Keanu and Alex Winter (aka, "Bill," of "Bill & Ted") on a friend date at an art museum, as well as my failed attempt to make "Dude, I totally possessed my dad!" the hot non sequitur of the moment
-Keanu being all adorably bromosexual with River Phoenix
-Grunge Keanu cutely flanking Rodney Bingenheimer
-Kat making the smart point that Keanu's so good in Thumbsucker and A Scanner Darkly
-Laura Jane making the smart (albeit not necessarily pro-Keanu) point that "when you say 'dude' to a Normie, they think you are impersonating Keanu Reeves"
-Our "Desert Island" Top 10 entry, in which I chose Point Break as one of my DVD selections so that "Keanu could be like the Wilson to my Tom Hanks in Castaway"
-About 7 zillion other Point Break references, because Point Break truly is the greatest movie ever made
See, Keanu, I love you more than anyone in the world ever. My favorite role of yours - after Johnny Utah of course - is probably Matt in River's Edge, or Marlon in I Love You To Death, or Tod in Parenthood, or Scott in My Own Private Idaho, or I DON'T KNOW THEY'RE ALL TOO GOOD!!!!! I love your Coke commercial, even. You are so very loved.
