We're Obsessed: "Basketball Jones" by Cheech Marin & George Harrison
That headline's a lie; the song's actually called "Basketball Jones featuring Tyrone Shoelaces," and it's by Cheech and Chong. But George Harrison plays lead guitar! And Ronnie Spector sings, and so do Darlene Love and Michelle Phillips; Klaus Voormann on bass, Carole King and Billy Preston on electric piano and organ (respectively). Apparently it's from California Split by Robert Altman? But I heard it for the first time on the radio, thanks to 100.3 The Sound's amazing A to Z extravaganza that's been going on all week. I was all, "What is this beautiful goofball epicness? Some sort of crazy-badass soul band from the sixth dimension? Oh no, it's CHEECH AND CHONG." SO COOL.
And the video's cool too, and I just watched it five times. I don't like the part where the woman irons her cat. I do like the part where the Beatles sway back and forth, and the part where Tyrone Shoelaces turns gigantic and pops his head up outside the cockpit of the plane. I wonder which one of the cheerleaders is wearing the correct pair of Day-of-the-Week underwear?
I've got a basketball jones too, btw. I love the Celtics and I love the Lakers, although my ultimate allegiance reveals itself in the color selection on that YouTube embed border - all apologies to my former schoolmate, Mr. Khloe Kardashian. GO CELTICS!

I seen this video a long time ago(probably when it first came out) and haven't seen it for a long time.
Cheech and Chong are my favorites (period), but I never new that George Harrison and Carole King were in the band too.
I wish I could make a basket with my foot like Tyrone did, I would probably be playing for the Lakers making all that money too.
