Bits and Pieces: Donatemydress.org, Loyale at Coco's Shoppe, Chako Private Sale at Clarabella

+ Come on, now, you know you've got a bunch of old bridesmaid and prom dresses gathering dust in the back of your closet. Why not donate it to donatemydress.org and help make someone's night special and fun?

+ The spring/summer collection of one of our favorite eco-friendly lines, Loyale, is now available at cocosshoppe.com. Pretty sweet.

+ Chako makes purses and bags from vintage obi and kimono cloth -- and if you know anything about textiles, you know that this means gorgeous. Clarabella in NYC is having a special private sale on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 6 to 9pm, and wines and refreshments will be served.

+ Catherine Malandrino Sample Sale! May 14th -16th, 2008, Metropolitan Pavilion, Gallery 123 West 18th Street 4th Floor, MasterCard, Visa, American Express accepted. More info here: www.savvynyc.com.

Bits and Pieces: Earth Day fun, hot bands, Dame Darcy & Teen Witch

+ It's Earth Day weekend! What are you doing to celebrate your love for Mama Earth? If you're in L.A., we highly recommend you get your palm read by Dame Darcy at Splash! A Celebration of Mermaids and the Sea (at UCLA's Fowler Museum), check out the Eco-Art Gallery at Topanga Earth Day, and go hear lots of live music (OMG, Juliette Lewis's band) at Santa Monica Pier. The last one's for the Green Apple Festival, which also has parties going on in New York, Miami, D.C. (The Roots!), Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco. (Liz)

+ The 13th Annual Record & CD Convention is taking place at Montreal's Venus Hall (6086 Sherbrooke East) this Saturday (April 19th) from 10 AM to 4 PM. (Laura)

+ Dead Meadow will be playing at Montreal's Club Lambi on Wednesday the 23rd, which should rule. I am not going to specify the exact location of Club Lambi, because if you live in Montreal and would go to see Dead Meadow, I'm pretty sure you know where Club Lambi is. (Laura)

+ Just to reiterate, Ver Sacrum's new single, "Rishikesh/Marrakech" is up at the band's Myspace, totally rules, and should be listened to, countless times, by YOU. (Laura)

+ Other good things happening in L.A. this weekend: the Tiny Creatures closing party for Art Show No. 9, featuring free raw vegan food (provided by Crops and Rawbers) and performances by No Age, Ima Gymnist, Softboiled Eggies, and Weave (Saturday night, 9 to midnight); the free No Age/Mika Miko show Sunday afternoon at the L.A. Public Library (starts at 2; more info here). (Liz)

+ Hey, sorry we're so Montreal- and L.A.-centric this week! To make it up to you, here's a really special Friday treat. A little bird from Brooklyn just informed me that there's a remake of Teen Witch in the works, which gives us the perfect opportunity to post this clip - probably the fiercest freestyle battle ever caught on film. (Liz)

Bits and Pieces: Sodafine Trunkshow, We're on Facebook, Mexico Does Not Heart Emo and More!

+ One of my favorite Brooklyn boutiques, Sodafine, is hosting a sidewalk sale/trunkshow just in time for spring on April 19. Designers like Dear Birthday, SDN and Popomomo will be featured, and if the weather's nice, there might be treats! The fun goes down from 1 - 7pm -- plenty of time to get your shop on and then show off your finds later in the evening.

+ There are some serious giveaway/contest junkies out there, so this one's for you: Gifts.com is giving away an Elemis Spa Giveaway traveler set now through April 17. May the force be with you.

+ We now have a Facebook group! Join our party here and um, write on our wall? Superpoke us? Throw a sheep at us? Yeah!

+ Completely unrelated, but did you know that there is a Wikipedia entry devoted to guitar moves?

+ Angry mobs attack emo kids in Mexico.

Bits And Pieces: Beau Soleil for Spring, Farylrobin Sale, Lucky Dragons + More

+ One of my favorite eco-friendly labels, Beau Soleil, has just launched their collection for spring. I love the use of studs and hardware on the dresses; it adds a nice element of rock 'n roll to all the pieces.

+ Los Angeles-based new-psychers Lucky Dragons are releasing a new record, Dream Island Laughing Language, on May 6. They're playing May 23rd at the Whitney Museum as well as June 7th at the East River Music Project. What can I say? I'm psyched.

+ Coutorture's giving away bottles of Ralph Wild perfume. You can enter the giveaway contest right there on our sidebar. Possible free stuff, mmmkay?

+ Do you like a bit of fairytale with your footwear? You should check out Farylrobin, notable for fanciful shapes and colorful, vintage-inspired colors and textures. NYC girls can get their Farylrobin on sale on April 19, 2007, at Clarabella, the hoppin' accessories destination on E. Houston Street: 15% off the spring collection, and 15% off when you pre-order for fall.

+ Accessory Bug is having a sale at their website and is offering a 10% coupon. Just enter "aprsale" at checkout and watch the magic happen, at least till 5/31/08, when it expires.

+ Eco-boutique Cocosshoppe.com makes it slightly easier to build up the sustainable section of your closet: use coupon code "LUXE08" for 20% off all non-sale items till Sunday, April 6, 2008. They sell organic and fair trade items by the likes of Bahar Shahpar, Viridis Luxe, Loyale, Edun, Enamore and many, many others, so it shouldn't be hard to find something to covet.
