Tuesday , June 26, 2007 Deals: KimonoMomo tote bags KimonoMomo designer Carol Ziogas takes Japanese textiles originally woven as long ago as the Taisho era (1912-1926) and magically transforms them into silky-soft accessories with the most elegantly ornate designs. We love the limited edition NYC Obi Messenger Bag and Orange Mini Obi Clutch, but we're particularly wild about Carol's collection of prototypes, experiments, and discontinued and older styles currently on sale. Two of our favorites, now just $45, the Apple Tote Bag and Purple & Black Tote Bag:
By the way, KimonoMomo's also having a summer scarf sale, in which all casual scarves are marked down to $45 from $85. And they're purrrrrty. Posted by Liz
Wednesday , August 9, 2006 Paper Doll summer sale Now that it's the second week of August, I'm thinking of starting my summer wardrobe shopping. And yay, Paper Doll is having a mega summer clearance sale, with up to 70 percent off cute warm-weather frocks and t-shirts and tank tops and skirts from a whole lotta indie designers. A few possibilities: Grecian Dress by TPHS ($90, available in wine and black)
Garden Dress by Peel ($80, available in rose)
Bow Long dress by Hyphen ($60, available in white and sand)
P.S. We heart Paper Doll for their ongoing artist project, where you too can be a fashion photographer (and model). Conceptualized as a "space for young artists to showcase their own interpretations" of Paper Doll's clothing, the artist project gallery features a bunch of our favorite photographers, including Helena Kvarnstrom, Amy Shutt, Roxanne Carter, and Kim Winderman. Thursday , April 20, 2006 Deals: Stockingirl.com My fashion idol in high school was this absolutely gorgeous British girl who often wore an intricately designed pair of tattoo tights that made her legs encased in the most beautiful Indian print. The result was artistic, hypnotic and quite popular with the flock of boys that seemed to follow her around all the time. I thought of her when I came across the designs over at stockingirl.com, which is devoted to maximizing the style potential of such utilitarian items like hosiery and socks. The site has a great array of legwear options, from a pair of racy thigh-high fishnet stockings the most sophisticated sylph would love to the most adorable ankle socks ever to yes, tattoo print tights. My favorites are the simple yet colorful cotton wool cable knit tights, which come in luscious colors like tangerine and cherry, and are perfect for those unpredictable cool spring weather evenings. But some of the more daring out there could rock au courant leggings in a Cavalli-like leopard print. Lucky for readers of all stripes, stockingirl.com is offering a 10% discount on orders till May 20, 2006; just type in "ngfm10" in the promo code area. (We'll be featuring nogoodforme deals and promotions there on the sidebar, so keep checking in for future offers.)
