Show and Tell: Beach House at Mercury Lounge, 8/25/07

We did end up finally catching Beach House at Mercury Lounge last Saturday! The show was hot, crowded, and oversold, but that surely did not detract from the aural beauty of the evening. They played a good amount of new material, as well as favorites like "Tokyo Witch" and "Master of None." I was lucky enough to bring along photographer Martha Burzynski to take some striking photographs for nogoodforme.com. Street Shots: Salmon Sneakers and Charming Girls in Bars

My buddy Kyle showed up to band practice wearing these killer sneakers. He informed me that they're not pink- they're salmon. I love seeing guys in completely unpredictable things... pastel sneakers and also lately, big gingham print oxford shirts.

Later in the week I met these beautiful girls at a Brooklyn bar normally littered with dudes. The girl in the middle brings exuberant charm to the basic minidress and summer sandals, and her friend to the right- I was in awe of how clever, adorable and well put-together she looked as well. It's almost costume-y but really modern and casual at the same time... I was completely inspired. (She actually jokingly asked if I was taking her pic for a "Don't"!)
