Super Hot Girls: Ginnifer Goodwin in W is Helping Cure my Eating Disorder

gg1.jpg

Writes some idiotic Normie on W magazine's Celebrities Blog:

I can't figure out why Ginnifer would have posed for these pictures - they are unflattering and nasty. Perhaps she needs some protein to help her think. Isn't this the type of thing people do who are trying to become famous and not something she needs to do now? But don't we all make mistakes - she's still a favorite of mine.

This idiotic Normie and I have exact opposite opinions about these Ginnifer "GG" Goodwin snaps, except for "She's still a favorite of mine." This spread of Ginnifer Goodwin in the June issue of W magazine (which, for the rekkid, has always irritated the living daylights out of me, because the size of it so awkward, and you can never read it comfortably on a bus or subway car!) pretty much exemplifies my Female Beauty Ideal. Ginnifer "GG" Goodwin has always been a "favorite of mine", because I feel as though she resembles me facially, and so I relate to her, as I do to all pouty, sloe-eyed Southern Europeans.

gg2.jpg

Another ruling aspect of these sexy S&M-y photographs is that they are single-handedly aiding me in my quest towards Complete Anorexia Recovery. Lately, I have been dealing with really hardcore dysmorphia, by far and away the shittiest aspect of ED Rehab. Ginnifer is helping kill my dysoprhia because she has a perfect hot sexy non-emaciated bod, and who on God's green Earth doesn't totally love that? Nobody in the Universe gives a flying fuck about my alleged "weight gain", which is not even a real thing that happened, but if it did, I should be happy, because that way I will look more like Ginnifer Goodwin, the hottest woman alive.

Also, I think it's amazing that GG's a vegan and discusses how, when you're a vegan, you can eat insanely huge portions of shit, and it's the same as eating half a non-vegan burger or whatevs. Says Ginnifer Goodwin, awesomely, "I'm eating more in quantity, which is my natural inclination. I'm a big eater."

THANK YOU, GINNIFER GOODWIN! That statement helps me deal with how fucked up I feel when I go out for dinner with non-vegans and they eat a quarter or their meal and I eat all of mine, and I'm like "What the shit? Why am I a paranoid anorexic? Why do I eat so much?" but thanks to Ginnifer "The Most Positive Eating Role Model Laura Jane Ever Encountered" Goodwin, I TOTALLY GET IT.

Laura Jane is Totally Glamorous!

dateydate.jpg

WOULD YOU FIRST-DATE ME????
(headband by Thelma Design; coral top by J.Crew; high-waisted Cheap Mondays; vintage gold bangle; Michael Kors boots)

I am super proud and pleased to report that I've been featured on Smitten, Glamour magazine's surprisingly killer sex & relationships blog. Myself and twenty-one other totally cute fashion bloggers all offered up our respective takes on what constitutes the perfect First Date outfit; mine is seen above. To quote myself:

The first-date look is all about striking the perfect balance: You should look coquettish but not tarty, casual but not schlumpy, elegant but playful. Jeans, a minorly-dressy top, and a focal-point accessory is always a safe bet. In my opinion, any first date worth its salt should conclude with sneaking and/or climbing in somewhere, so you gotta come prepared--no heels for me!

As awesome as it is to be featured on Smitten along with so many awesome girls, I must admit that this whole business really rubs salt (and rubbing alcohol, and citric acid) in my "I'll never go on a date again" wound. Oh, wellski. Here's hoping.

Oh! And here are my two other favorite date looks from the feature:

stacy.jpg

Seen above is Stacy from La Boudoir, who looks totally sweet and chill and like the kind of girl who dudes date instead of dating wackola me.

And here is Riikka of Only Shallow, who a) looks strikingly like Maggie Gyllenhaal, and b) manages to pull off a hyper-saccharine vintage-girly thing without looking costumey at all.

Super Hot Girls: Bebe Buell

bebebuellhair.jpg bebebuellcreem.jpg

I've got the above left photo taped to my fridge as a constant reminder to myself: THIS IS WHAT YOUR HAIR COULD BE LIKE. You know, like, if I applied myself or whatever. (And I hardly ever apply myself when it comes to hair - it's just so much work!) But even if the inspiration/aspiration thing hasn't worked out, at least it's nice to stare at Bebe Buell every time I go to get some more lemon water or a nectarine. A little while back I read her memoir Rebel Heart and - despite those many moments that make you go, "Arghh, Bebe, what were you thinking?!!", especially when it comes to her depressingly epic romance with Elvis Costello - it's generally so fun and superjuicy and a dream come true for my 70s-rock-star-obsessed, boring-hair-having self. The best is she gives away lots of good secrets about Mick and Bowie and Jimmy Page and Iggy and Stiv Bators and Todd Rundgren and Elvis and Keith Richards and so many other boys (and girls too, having been close pals with the likes of Patti Smith and Chrissie Hynde). Here's a few of my favorites:

On David Bowie:
"After hanging out for a couple of weeks, David and I decided that we might have sex, but then we both burst out laughing and ended up doing our makeup. He taught me a lot about makeup and fashion. He was the first man who ever painted my toenails for me. I don't think I was really his cup of tea sexually."

On Jimmy Page:
"Jimmy was big on astrology and he wanted to do my chart. I gave him the information, and he stopped calling me abruptly. I think he discovered I had a Mars-Venus link with Mick or something like that."

Thrift Scores with Laura Jane: Value Village, 07.18.08

Few things in this operatic escapade we call life are as straight-up awesome as having a killer thrift-shopping experience. It's impossible to predict precisely when a class-A Thrift Score Day is going to hit you; sometimes, all I want is to immerse myself in rack-scouring for hours on end, yet come up entirely empty-handed. On other occasions, I dip into a Sally Ann or Goodwill to kill a couple minutes and exit hours later, exhausted, red-eyed and reeking of mothballs, weighed down by two giant sacks of crap in either hand.

Thrift Scores with Laura Jane is a brand-spanking new feature dedicated to sharing the results of my positive thrift scoring adventures with the world. Yesterday ended up being one of the "Thrift Scorriest" days of my entire life; check the goods!

Daisy Lowe, Blogger

I was so inner-conflicted about British model Daisy Lowe. I mean, yeah, she's the progeny of rock stars and stuff and we're not really into nepotism, no matter how convenient it makes for editorial. But she seems like a fun, nice girl, and she's got kind of a more "real" thing happening with her curvier-than-the-average-runway-stick figure, which we're into. And she looks just a teensy bit like Anna Karina, which is always a cool thing in my book. And now she's blogging over at Elle UK! It's the usual blogger type of stuff (what's she reading, what she ate at lunch -- yes, she eats! ) But like Daisy, her blog is completely approachable and fun-loving.

Random Picture Entry: Milena Muzquiz of Los Super Elegantes

Los Super Elegantes first came on my radar through the cloistered, cozy confines of the art world, having played in such venues as L.A.'s Hammer Museum and New York's Whitney Museum. The feisty, theatrical duo of artists Milena Muzquiz and Martiniano Lopez-Crozet make a vibrant, deliberately amateurish blend of surrealist punk, mariachi, pop and psychedelic disco, and it doesn't hurt that both are ridiculously hot in a very "her name is Rio and she dances on the sand" sort of way. Milena Muzquiz particularly seems to have emerged as the crush du jour of a certain subset of Angeleno art-damaged boy and girl. And who can blame them? Vibrant, fun, political in a smart, sly way, she's always dressed in a saucy dress and killer heels whether she's commanding the stage or marching in an immigrant rights demonstration. Every human being is super elegante in their world, and Los Super Elegantes wants everyone to live and dance in it.

Random Picture Entry: Leila Moss of the Duke Spirit

Because we have no time this week, because the Duke Spirit's album Cuts Across the Land has a certain nonchalant yet confident alt-rock swagger and because singer Leila Moss has a soulful voice and looks a bit like Nico...
