+ Kat
Listening: Class Actress, Smog, Sade, Aaliyah (R.I.P. baby girl)
Watching: Lebanon, which takes place inside an Israeli tank during the first Lebanon War. Pretty intense, but SO GOOD. And this week I will see Going the Distance, starring my good friend Drew Barrymore. And footage we shot of the web series I'm working on, SEE BELOW FOR DUDENESS. What is it about a group of dudes where it always boils down to a body joke?
Reading: Madame Bovary.
Wearing: jeans and a shitty striped t-shirt. Schlep day!
Wanting: A day off
+ Liz
Listening: songs from Popdose's "Late Summer, Late Seventy-something" mixtape, espesh "Superlungs My Supergirl"

Reading: nearly finished with To Have Not by Frances Lefkowitz and I'm loving the hell out of it
Wearing: last night I wore my Spirit Animal House dress & felt nostalgic for when Kat and LJ kept addressing me as "barKER!!!"

Snapshot: Listening, Watching, Reading, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: The new Fever Ray cover of Peter Gabriel's "Mercy Street"; and I finally listened to the entire record of Have One on Me, which was slow-going. Sorry, dudes, that album could've been edited way down to one totes brilliant record instead of a decent triple LP. EDITORS. WE ALL NEED THEM.
Watching: We watched Star Trek again at Hudson River Park and it was a real, real treat. I really do hope we're all still listening to the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" way in the future. And Spock is still hot. And J.J. Abrams and I have the same birthday! That is so exciting to me. Also, footage footage footage...
Reading: The script I'm directing this Saturday! And my shot list! And the September issue of Vogue with Halle Berry on the cover.
Wearing: A dress I got at JCPenney, a cashmere cardigan from Uniqlo and flip-flops.
Wanting: MONEY MONEY GOOD FORTUNE UNIVERSE KEEP GETTING ME WORK I GREATLY APPRECIATE IT THANK YOU AND SPOCK THANK YOU AGAIN STOP
Let's just watch the whole car chase scene in Star Trek, okay? It will make your day:
+ Liz
Listening: Aerosmith & J. Geils Band, whom I saw last Saturday at Fenway Park and it was my favorite
Watching: The Runaways & Mad Men & The Departed, which is a good movie entirely because of its use of "Well Well Well" by John Lennon
Reading: haphazardly selected sentences from a D.H. Lawrence short story collection; To Have Not by my friend Frances
Wearing: Aerosmith shirt & cutoffs & those shoes. But I wish I were wearing high-waist flared jeans.
Wanting: a J. Geils Band shirt & to marry Peter Wolf & also some high-waist flared jeans
Imagine if I was like 'WARNING: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS GOOD VIBES!'??? But it does!
+ Laura Jane
Listening: Poundy footsteps down the hallway. Sounds like somebody's late for work and stressed out about it!
Watching: And oh what an episode of Mad Men it was.
Reading: Still A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man but hopefully by next week the answer to this question will be Ulysses
Wearing: Vans slip-ons with a picture of a skull wearing a headdress; knee-high lace-up Frye boots; bloodshot sleep-deprived eyes; running shorts
Wanting: A puppy just like Davy's "Susie," his handwritten guarantee, and permission:
Tags: high-waist jeans, James Joyce, Mad Men, Martin Scorsese is good at music, Peter Wolf, sleep deprivation, Susie

Snapshot: Listening, Watching, Reading, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: Frida Hyvonen, new songs from the new Walkmen, that new Kanye West song with Beyonce.
Watching: I bet someone is going to make me see that Scott Pilgrim movie this weekend. Also, there is a television in my sublet and I can't believe that I watch "Lopez Tonight" sometimes. Those karaoke-singing wrestlers!
Reading: You know, I actually have been working like a dog this week and haven't read much of anything! WHAT?!!!!
Wearing: There is a rare break in the relentless heat and humidity that is NYC Summer 2010, so I'm wearing skinny jeans from Uniqlo and an old Depeche Mode t-shirt. CAN'T WAIT FOR FALL CLOTHES!!!! I went to my storage space to retrieve an old laptop and I saw a bag full of boots and jackets and other beautiful autumnal clothing and I got SO EXCITED.
Wanting: <3 TO EVERYONE.
I like him so much, but why can I not see Michael Cera as a viable sexual entity?
+ Liz
Listening: "Can We Still Be Friends?" by Todd Rundgren, "Spin It On" by Wings, Van Halen, Sonic Youth
Watching: on a redeye Tuesday night I paid five dollars for four episodes from season six of Sex and the City: the one where Big has heart surgery, the one where Carrie meets The Russian, the one where Blair Underwood is all weird to Miranda in the hallway, and the one where Samantha finds out she has breast cancer. Also: clips of James Franco as "Franco" on General Hospital, Mad Men.
Reading: that New York profile of James Franco, the Bill Clinton issue of Esquire; rereading A Complicated Kindness
Wearing: this really cool shirt about Glendale. It's a wifebeater with neon-green typeface and a creepy/stupid eagle.
Wanting: that disease James Franco has where he does 8 zillion things at the same time and is good at lots of them
James Franco on General Hospital. I like when he says: "I'm going to pretend that that self-pitying drivel didn't just emerge from your lovely mouth," cuz it totally sounds like something I'd say.
+ Laura Jane
Listening: The first and last three songs on Here Come The Warm Jets by Brian Eno
Watching: Mad Men: I was really enjoying Lane and Don's friendship date, until Lane did that awful thing with the steak. That was gross. But I'm glad they're friends now.
Reading: A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce
Wearing: Jean shorts, red plaid flannel, Bernhard Willhelm x Camper sandals
Wanting: To win 50 million dollars in the lottery today! I really, really want that!
JAMES JOYCE IRL:
PS ALSO HERE IS THE TRAILER FOR THE NEW SERGE GAINSBOURG BIOPIC:
I took that from Cat Party. Also, don't you think it's weird that Serge Gainsbourg changed his name from Lucien to Serge? Lucien's way hotter.

Snapshot: Listening, Watching, Reading, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: I am obsessively listening to Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers on audiobook. I find his voice oddly hypnotic and compelling. I also am going through a Hope Sandoval/Mazzy Star/Opal phase right now. If I start nodding off in the subway train or missing my stop three stations later, please blame it on that.
Watching: I keep meaning to go see Eclipse, but it's a half-hearted effort. I also watched some films that I will tell you about when I do my "movies for Cancers" entry in the next installment of the epic nogoodforme Guide to Astrological Cinema. Also, the World Press Photo show that's up at the UN Headquarters Visitor Lobby. If any NYCers have an appreciation for stunning photojournalism, you must check it out. It's truly excellent.
Reading: PLEASE SOMEONE EMAIL ME ABOUT HENRY JAMES' "THE PORTRAIT OF A LADY" BECAUSE I AM DYING TO PSYCHOANALYZE ISABEL ARCHER. EMAIL ME AT KAT (at) NOGOODFORME (dot) COM AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK SHE DOES AT THE END AND WHY! Also: Edmund WIlson's The Shores of Light. And Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.
Wearing: An black Daryl K dress and these freakin' sandals from Bangkok.
Wanting: People, your good vibes are working! Please send us more over the weekend!!!!!!!! CRUCIAL!. Let me know what you would like me to send good vibes in return for--I will vibe my heart out for you!
A little video snippet I took of the World Press Photo show (bein' sneaky, those UN security guards are FIERCE!):
+ Liz
Listening: The Dirt of Luck by Helium, cuz it's winter in Los Angeles
Watching: last week I "watched" Mandy Kahn read at Tavin & now she's my favorite poet ever
Reading: a book I want to never end (this book); Elle with Drew Barrymore on the cover
Wearing: cutoffs + canary yellow tank top + navy cardigan with corduroy shoulder patches + fave nu shooz
Wanting: a beautiful lace dress; to have my toes surgically enhanced
This Family Guy bit was totally inspired by my story about Ringo's Best Birthday Ever:
+ Laura Jane
Listening: Nothing that isn't totally predictable
Watching: Charlie St. Cloud, here is my review of it: Zac Efron looks pretty when he cries. He is my favourite contemporary actor. The chick was annoying.
Reading: I ate a really good sandwich yesterday
Wearing: Extremely unruly bangs; a dress that looks like a nightgown
Wanting: I'm going to see Paul McCartney in two days; I think asking for anything more than that would be a bit "greedy."
BURNING QUESTION: WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING PAIRS OF J.CREW FALL SHOES SHOULD I POSSIBLY BUY FOR THIS UPCOMING AUTUMN?

Tags: good vibes, Helium, Isabel Archer, J.Crew on J.Crack, Paul McCartney, Ringo, shoes, shoulder patches, Tavin, the coldest winter that I ever saw, World Press Photo 10, Zac Efron

Snapshot: Listening, Watching, Reading, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: David Bowie, Low; Revolting Cocks, Beers, Steers and Queers; Jesus and Mary Chain, Psychocandy and Darklands and Automatic. GOOD STUFF.
Watching: I saw Salt last weekend and it was kind of a mess. But you know, I forget Angelina Jolie is a movie star for a reason--I couldn't believe how much the audience was on her side. There's a part when she totally lays into a character with a chain and a pair of handcuffs and the audience was like "MRROOOAAAARRRWWWWWRRR" when she choked him to death. Crazy! Also, she looks wicked hot in a beanie and leather jacket.
Reading: Haruki Murakami, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, and I'm starting Blind Woman, Sleeping Willow soon after I re-read The Portrait of A Lady for the millionth time.
Wearing: I can tell you what I'm NOT wearing that I really wish I could wear right now, and that's my new black military coat from Uniqlo. Otherwise, it's the same t-shirt and cutoff shorts as per usual. I wear these shorts so much that I think they're starting to be able to walk on their own without me.
Wanting: BEAUTIFUL AUTUMNAL WEATHER SO I CAN WEAR MY JACKET! Also, I'd like to go dancing soon. More beachtime and a Popsicle.
The Revolting Cocks sing "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." I have actually never fancied Al Jourgensen in my life, but I used to have a crush on Chris Connelly that was something fierce:
+ Liz
Listening: the Velvet Underground record with "Some Kinda Love"; the first Jane's Addiction album
Watching: dolphins swimming all about Emily Richmond's boat; a show we like
Reading: a book, Flavorpill's list of the Top 40 Culturally Relevant Preppies
Wearing: almost-bangs and lots and lots of eyeshadow (I LOVE LARENIM)
Wanting: a ringtone that's an audio clip of Connie Hilton saying to Don Draper: "I got everything I have on my own. It's made me immune to those who complain and cry because they can't. I didn't take you for one of them, Don. Are you?"
(L: Li'l Roger Sterling. R: Some culturally relevant preppies I'm fond of.)

+ Laura Jane
Listening: "And Your Bird Can Sing" and "Good Day Sunshine" by the Beatles. It's just been one of those weeks when I don't feel much need to look beyond "one John song" and "one Paul song" for satisfaction. The Beatles are amazing.
Watching: I've been working really crazy hours and got home from work deliriously exhausted yesterday but couldn't sleep because the sun was out, so I was looking for a really mind-numbing, low-energy activity, and I thought "Oh, I should watch videos of baby animals on Youtube! People love that!" and I tried to, for about half an hour, and then I realized that watching videos of baby animals on Youtube is not for me.
Reading: Another thing that happened yesterday was that Elizabeth Barker told me all about Kanye's Twitter, and then I fell in love with it, and then Elizabeth Barker e-mailed me to tell me "I think you and Kanye West are the same person," and then I tried to get Kanye to notice me on Twitter via @messages, but then Kanye West never got back to me ("Hi, I'm Kanye West. I'm too busy photographing emblems of my decadent lifestyle to talk to Laura Jane Faulds"), and then he Twittered this, which I found highly ostentatious, and then he RTed Aziz Ansari a bunch of times, so now I am on the fence about Kanye's Twitter. If I were Kanye, I would have @messaged Laura Jane.
Wearing: Yesterday I wore jeans, black flip-flops, a plain grey t-shirt, and a knock-off Alexander McQueen skull-print scarf that Chelsea brought me back from London five years ago tied around my head because I didn't have time to wash my hair, and, you know, it wasn't really all that bad.
Wanting: I want every man in his mid-twenties who wears boat shoes to replace his boat shoes, AKA the most tired fucking overdone dude shoe look I've ever seen, with THESE:

PS: I'm still totally cool with boat shoes on chicks
Tags: dolphins, Emily Richmond, eyeshadow, Jane's Addiction, Kanye's Twitter, Laura loves the Beatles, Mad Men, preppies, ringtones, Roger Sterling, skulls, so over boat shoes on men, the Velvet Underground

Snapshot: Listening, Reading, Watching, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: Family Band, which you should check out if you are into PJ Harvey/early Cat Power and basically a goth-folk thing...it's really good for that. I love the video for "Children"; Depeche Mode, Some Great Reward, which I sometimes feel is my favorite DM album, but then I get confused because that's Violator, but Some Great Reward is so good! I guess I can be a DM album polygamist, thank God. And BTW, you know how I keep saying that Depeche Mode songs would make for a great musical? Well, somebody fucking listened to me!; Boris and Sunn 0))), Altar, 'cause they're playing all of it together for All Tomorrow's Parties in September! @Q#)*($&)@!!!!!!
Watching: Okay, so I watched Inception after my last Snapshot and I dug it. But it's not a masterpiece. I feel like people get so surprised when Hollywood makes a not-shit movie that they all go "Masterpiece! Masterpiece!" when it's just really well-done. This makes me wonder if Hollywood intentionally churns out craptastic films, so people will react like this. But musings aside, I think it's about 30 minutes too long, the final "dream" is kind of useless but for two dramatic moments and I thought the action sequences were shot so incoherently that they bugged me. And maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I have a hard time buying Leonardo DiCaprio as a husband and a father. (I whited-out this in case it gives too much away for peeps who haven't seen the movie.) But yeah, Inception, it's a lot of fun. I also got to see a screening of Dinner with Schmucks, which is really, really funny. Seriously, maybe I was seeing it with a super-amiable audience, but I laughed so hard. It's coming out on July 30 and it's worth catching, especially if you're all up with the Paul Rudd/Steve Carell/Zach Galifianakis schtick. But my favorite bits were with Jemaine Clement, who plays Kieran Vollard, an artist with hilarz-balls "animal magnetism." Fantastic!
Reading: Don DeLillo, White Noise (AMAZEBALLS); Junot Diaz, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (LOVED IT); Paul Auster, The New York Trilogy (LOVED IT AS WELL); Kristin Cashore, Graceling (LOVED IT); Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire (OH MY FUCKING GOD, LOVED THEM BOTH, COULDN'T PUT THEM DOWN, CAN'T WAIT FOR "MOCKINGJAY") Maybe I'm in such a good mood, I love everything. Did I really read that much in a week? Yes, I did.
Wearing: My outfits are so lousy lately that it's not worth mentioning, unless "t-shirt and a skirt" is up your alley. I blame summer, it puts me off my fashion game.
Wanting: Autumn.
Jemaine Clement as Kieran Vollard giving you sex tips. YEAH:
+ Liz
Listening: the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack
Watching: oh just Mad Men - what else is there?
Reading: the Vogue with Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover
Wearing: my "tiger skirt" + purple American Apparel racerback tank + cowboy boots
Wanting: for John Lennon to hang out with Muppets, Blake Lively's coat:

+ Laura Jane
Listening: Drake, Thank Me Later; Nicki Minaj, Beam Me Up Scotty; The Beatles, "Mr Moonlight"
Watching: Drake + "relevance" on Youtube
Reading: "The John Lennon I Knew" by Maureen Cleave of "Norwegian Wood" fame
Wearing: Aggressively-floral button-up unbuttoned very low with sleeves rolled-up to "above tattoo" length, very tight very inky blue jeans, rainbow-striped cork platform wedges, messy big hair, and a suntan. Very "Marilyn Monroe on an off-day."
Wanting: Pink wine spritzer Popsicles
On a completely unrelated note: LOOK HOW CUTE STUART SUTCLIFFE AND ASTRID KIRCHHERR ARE IN A PHOTOBOOTH!

Tags: Astrid Kirchherr, Blake Lively, Depeche Mode, Drake, Inception, John Lennon, Kat hates summer, Mad Men, Marilyn Monroe, Maureen Cleave, Muppets, Nicki Minaj, Norwegian Wood, reading, Stuart Sutcliffe, tiger skirts

Snapshot: Listening, Reading, Watching, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: I recently listened to all of M.I.A.'s records in order in an attempt to "refine" my opinion of her new record, which is a little harsh. I listened to the record she did with Diplo (Piracy Funds Terrorism), then Arular, then Kala, then Maya. And you know what? My opinion still stands. Also: Alastair Galbraith, Berlin, and I recently discovered my Calla records.
Watching: I haven't seen many movies lately, but I am going to see Inception this weekend, like everyone else. I am oddly ambivalent about seeing Ellen Page in this movie, though--why is this so? I also watch a lot of footage I shoot with my little pocket camcorder, which is my favorite object in the world now. I put together a little video collage at my personal site, if you want to see the little bits and pieces of my NYC summer so far. (Also, if you watch, you can see a tiny bit of a "person of interest" in my life :-)
Reading: Paul Auster's New York Trilogy, which I like. Surprisingly, I haven't read much of Auster, so I'm changing that right now. Also, I've been doing non-fiction audiobooks lately, most recently Seth Godin's Linchpin, which is really great and inspiring. But I'm finding that when I do audiobooks, I internalize the information in such a different way. The ideas weave themselves more easily into my daily thoughts and perceptions, but it's harder for me to lay out the intellectual argument in a clear, orderly way when someone asks me "What's it about?" Do other people out there do audiobooks? What is your experience with them vs. reading actual books?
Wearing: A Rodarte for Target camisole, the same old cut-offs I've been wearing all month (fall fashion, I miss you), these sandals my mom got in a Bangkok flea market then gave to me.
Wanting: Dear ones, we have a request to make of you! The collective troika of NOGOODFORME has something superspecial brewing in the works, something really fun and smart and witty that we know you will enjoy. We recently put something out there in a particular world, hoping that it finds a home for it to flower fully and come into reality. PLEASE SEND US GOOD VIBES THAT IT DOES THIS! Seriously, take a moment right now to tell the Universe, "Universe, please let that magical, unicornical thing that Kat, Liz and Laura Jane did find a home and bring them love and prosperity so they can bring it into being and into the world so that it finds its way to me!" WE DEEPLY, HEARTFULLY APPRECIATE THIS. Thank you!
If you are up early enough, you can hear the birds in Brooklyn:
+ Liz
Listening: Aladdin Sane by David Bowie a lot a lot, probably cuz of that scene in The Kids Are All Right where Mark Ruffalo does it all different ways with the girl from America's Next Top Model while "Panic in Detroit" plays in the background.
Watching: The Kids Are All Right! Season 3 of Mad Men, at long last! I thought the last moment of the Hills finale was really clever! Sal Romano makes me cry! I finally get why people think Mark Ruffalo is hot! It's cuz he's hot!
Reading: A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews
Wearing: my red/green/blue/yellow-striped Chrissie Snow Summer Fun dress
Wanting: Betty-Draper-in-Rome hair, Ben & Jerry's Cheesecake Brownie

(L: Betty-Draper-in-Rome hair. R: Mark Ruffalo being attractive.)
+ Laura Jane
Listening: Nico, Chelsea Girl; Graceland by Paul Simon; that stupid Julie Ruin record; Helen of Troy by John Cale; the Wu-Tang/Beatles mash-up; the Jay-Z/Beatles mash-up; my iPod shuffle is really insistent that every fifth song I listen to should be "Rain" by the Beatles, and I'm all "I see your point, but... not right now?"
Watching: Um, I don't know. Like, NOTHING?!????
Reading: I can distinctly remember having an experience earlier this week where I was reading something, and thought, "Good job, Laura Jane! You're reading something. Now people will think you're less of an idiot on Snapshot this week," but now I forget, and it all seems so insignificant now...
Wearing: Shitty scrappy pigtails, Nike flip-flops, black lace mini-shorts, "As I Got Older, I Got Better" t-shirt, Sexy Sadie necklace (long story), peach leopard-print cardigan, hot pink raffia "tote bag"
Wanting: richness
This image is named "laurajaneissocoolinthesummerof2010.jpg":

Snapshot: Listening, Reading, Watching, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Dudes, I'm doing this as a video blog on my Blackberry via email and Vimeo upload. I hope this works!
+ Liz
Listening: I like the new Kanye. And in my car I found this really great mix CD with "The Faster I Breathe, The Further I Go" by PJ Harvey and "Ghetto Musick" by Outkast and "Moonchild" by King Crimson and other stuff, also.
Watching: soon I'll be watching The Kids Are All Right, with our dear friend Cathy. STOKED.
Reading: I finished Imperial Bedrooms and am now stuck in the terrible psychic space of "I finished Imperial Bedrooms and all I want to talk about is Imperial Bedrooms but no one in my life has read Imperial Bedrooms and it's so hard to be me; waaaaaaaaaaaaaah........."
Wearing: at press time: a wetsuit! And very much sunscreen.
Wanting: "All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine"
Beautifully, the following YouTube video contains not one but two Beatles Anthology moments I've had stuck in my head all the time for the past two weeks: The first is at 0:20, when Paul says "Rubbbber Soul, hey hey!"; the second is at 2:23, when Ringo does his cool "Yellow Submarine" head bob. If I could walk around bobbing my head like that and saying "Rubbbber Soul, hey hey!" all the time every single day, then I would fully be living the life I was meant to live.
+ Laura Jane
Listening: Mostly just "Half Past France" by John Cale, over and over again. If ain't broke, don't fix it. That's what I say.
Watching: This totally bad montage of myself wandering around France and Morocco, having emotionally significant experiences, interacting with animals, eating, smoking, drinking, etc. In my head, I mean. To the tune of "Half Past France." This is now the goal.
Reading: I read the #1 short story of all-time that PISSED ME OFF, and now I'm writing a short story about a girl who reads that short story and has the same life-changing realizations as I did, after reading it.
Wearing: My "Slutty George Harrison" dress; the same Nike flip-flops I have been wearing for the past three summers and don't even like, but LOVE; the black-and-white polka-dot dress that I was wearing when I inspired Paul McCartney to write "Temporary Secretary" about me.
Wanting: I want to buy the oldest, most beautiful, charming, crumbling hotel in all the south of France, or Morocco. It would have maybe twenty or thirty rooms. This would happen in ten years from now. I would give all my favourite people in the world keys to a hotel room in my hotel, and then I'd say "Look! Here! You all now have a vacation destination, in my haunted, romantic hotel in the south of France or Morocco. Do what you will, my beloveds." And then all my friends and family could fix up their hotel rooms whenever they wanted, and go there whenever it was convenient for them. And then every time I'd go visit my France-hotel, a different mishmashy group of all my best friends would be there, and it would be such a cool, fun surprise, to see who I'd meet!

Snapshot: Listening, Reading, Watching, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: Lately I have been listening to somewhat dark, feminine things like Victoire and Julianna Barwick. If you are into indie-classical like Rachel's, you will like Victoire a lot, and Julianna Barwick sounds like if Enya was cool. That is weird, I know, but trust me, it's really beautiful and ethereal and heavenly. It also keeps me in a FOFZ, as LJ would say. But I also just downloaded ZZ Top's greatest hits and I'm really looking forward to that.
Watching: I haven't seen anything recently! I want to see Winter's Bone. Who has seen it? Is it worth catching in the theatres? Also I want to see I Am Love because Tilda Swinton is my celebrity spirit animal and I love her.
Reading: I have been reading a collection of short stories by John Cheever. Why it took me so long to get to reading Cheever is beyond me! I love the patina of civility and grace that is the atmosphere of his stories, but underneath it is this sad, sordid thing that makes his fiction so riveting. I swear he probably invented Don Draper. I also like to call him "old Cheever" in my mind, like he's the old dude down the street who sits on his stoop and plays cards with his neighbors.
Wearing: The zebra dress from Laura Dawson that we featured so long ago in Spirit Animal House.
Wanting: Dudes, do you realize what an epic NOGOODFORME week it's been in the last week? Since last Friday, LJ and I HUNG OUT IN NYC (sniff, we missed Barker SO MUCH) and there is so much excitement afoot! I would like us three to be able to go on quarterly vacations with one another where we hole up in glam hotels around the world and work because we get up to such brilliant things and crack each other up. UNIVERSE, BANKROLL THIS SHIT AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Film nerds, I'm conducting an experiment...which do you like, the one-shot or the multi-shot, both of my niece and nephew "doing dishes." P.S. - I did not make them do this, they wanted to do this themselves. They also play a game where they drive to NYC to visit me and take taxis together.:
+ Liz
Listening: many many songs with the name "Mary" in them
Watching: LOST ANGELS
Reading: IMPERIAL BEDROOMS
Wearing: Paul McCartney and shorts and shoes
Wanting: a gold-framed photo of Paul McCartney holding a birdcage over George Harrison's head
Do you ever remind yourself of Bob Dylan in the "science student" scene from Don't Look Back? I do, sometimes.
+ Laura Jane
Listening: Fear and Paris 1919 by John Cale, especially Paris 1919, which is the #1 album I've ever heard that sounds like first day of school weather
Watching: I saw the Fiery Furnaces play at some point recently. That was neat.
Reading: I don't know. Nothing.
Wearing: Dresses. I don't know. I'm tired.
Wanting: An Endless Summer t-shirt; actual endless summer; to recover my four-month-long sleep deficit (this will never happen); endless sleep, but not really endless sleep, because that means dying.

Snapshot: Listening, Reading, Watching, Wearing, Wanting
+ Kat
Listening: Whatever the hell the shuffle on my music player feels like doing. I've given up the illusion of control over my life. Right this minute: "Car Song" by Elastica. ELASTICA ARE SO GOOD! No, wait, it just switched to Lush's "Deluxe." LUSH ARE SO GOOD!
Watching: Traffic in my window, bits of HD footage, Spirited Away with my niece and nephews (they were very intrigued by No-Face)...oh, and I successfully copied the "Reeling" PJ Harvey concert film to DVD.
Reading: The Vogue with Marion Cotillard on the cover. She's great, but the rest of the ish...zzzzzzzzzz.
Wearing: As little as possible...it's HOT. Not me, the weather!
Wanting: I'M BACK IN NYC! IT'S AWESOME! AND HOT!
You want vintage Polly singing "Rid of Me":
+ Liz
Listening: "I Can't Tell You Why" by the Eagles is on the radio right now. Totes my fave Eagles song.
Watching: this really killer show called Courtney Love Behind the Music
Reading: the same book I've been reading forever. It's so good, despite my slowness.
Wearing: a metallic-striped French Connection tank top I bought for $10 at Crossroads, plus cutoffs & my shiny zebra-striped ballet flats & gunmetal braided satin headband. This all looks really good with my black fake-leather hooded jacket, btdubs.
Wanting: to be best friends forever with Caplin Rous, The Hundred-Pound Capybara
I think this is my favorite Michael Jackson video. I love it when dogs wear suits and ride roller coasters and read newspapers.
+ Laura Jane
