Stop The Presses! Kat Expounds on "The September Issue" at Steady Diet of Film Ever wanted to hear the sound of my voice? Ever wanted to have evidence of what four years of film school does to your ability to talk about films like a normal human being? You have ample amounts of it over at Steady Diet of Film, a rockin' film podcast by Erin Donovan that recently had me as a guest to discuss The September Issue, the documentary on Vogue and Anna Wintour that's currently out now in theatres. I put a lifetime of reading Vogue to good use, and more importantly, Erin and I had a blast -- she even asked me if I was the Anna Wintour of nogoodforme at some point. (Now that I have had to think about it, I must cop to yes, if only 'cause I'm the most reserved of the nogoodforme troika. Liz gets to be Grace Coddington 'cause she's so sweet, and LJ is obviously Andre Leon Talley for sheer presence and flamboyance.) Film fans should definitely keep checking out her blog and podcast for the latest discussions in movies, especially if you're interested in documentary -- Erin digs up some pretty awesome ones, although there is definitely something for everyone on the blog. Anyway: check it out!

STOP THE PRESSES!: Emily Richmond is Sailing Around the World!
Out of all the cool things all the cool people I've ever known have done, sailing around the world definitely takes the coolest cake. Yes, it's true! Longtime nogoodforme.com Inner Circle member and collaborator Emily Richmond is circumnavigating our fair planet! In a boat! By herself! Emily Richmond is an all-star. I just hope she doesn't get too into the Amelia Earhart spirit and disappear forever. That would make us sad.
Emily's journey is set to begin in January of 2010; in the meantime, you can follow Emily's killer new circumnavigation-related blog, Bobbie Rounds the World (Bobbie is the name of Emily's boat!) for updates, info, cool pictures of other sailors, and excerpts from Willa Cather's memoirs.
Sadly for Emily Richmond, her best bros, Laura Jane Faulds and Elizabeth Barker of nogoodforme.com, are not billionaires (yet). If we were, we'd definitely pay for Emily's Grand Voyage, and probably come along for the ride, too. Laura Jane would wear a sailor suit; it'd be a jam. STOP THE PRESSES: Kat Gives the Lowdown on Her 'Hood at neighborbee!
I love to big up my beloved neighborhood, so of course I was totally psyched to hold forth for Serena, one of the super-super people over at neighborbee, a blog devoted to NYC city life. Not only do I get to blab about my favorite slice of pizza, my affection for the Studio Museum of Harlem and my love for Hungarian Pastry Shop, but I also get to blab about movies (my own and others!) Stop the Presses! nogoodforme rocks Lucky's blog, celebrates sixth birthday, continues circuitous yet inevitable world domination
We interrupt your Lazy Sunday to basically flip our shizzits about being mentioned in the blog of one aforementioned Lucky magazine. Yay us! If there was any member of the Conde Nast empire we'd want to be namechecked in, it'd be Lucky, which makes us NOT want to throw our issues across the room in an agony of frustration. Thank you, Lucky, we heart you, too.
But the big news is that this week WE ARE TURNING SIX YEARS OLD THIS WEEK! Yes, it's Birthday Week for nogoodforme.com. Six blog years is really eighteen in human years, which means we are LEGAL and ready to go to college soon, where no doubt we will major in Classics, Cultural Anthropology and Semiotics (all at once), smoke a lot of pot, make out on both coasts and five continents, maybe halfheartedly start a band and have a nervous breakdown. Probably all at once; don't you do everything all at once at this age? Who knows what will happen in the next year, but I can tell you that this week we are blowing off some of our weekly regulars, inducting some new icons into the nogoodforme Style Icon pantheon, throwing down some party jams, and God knows what else. We're six, dudes, we are like GROWN.

I accept that this is not very important news to anybody except me, but I really needed to let y'all know that, as of yesterday afternoon, I, (Laura Jane of nogoodforme.com) have returned to my home base: the brainy, badass brunette-o-sphere. I feel like myself again! The Great Goddesses of Brunette-dom (Veronica Lodge, Audrey Hepburn, Paul McCartney, etc.) are smiling down upon me. Rest assured: I am very happy about this decision. STOP THE PRESSES!: Liz's Perfect Day in L.A. (Courtesy of Tidepooler.com)
Last week I made a lotta headway in my move toward total media takeover: First, on Thursday night's 30 Rock, Tina Fey held in her hands a magazine containing words I wrote, which kind of made me explode a little. Then on Friday my pal Celeste published a story called "Liz's Perfect Day in Los Angeles" on her lovely blog Tidepooler. It's sort of a make-believe Saturday adventure through all my favorite places in my pretty city, and of course it involves swimming while eating cupcakes, buying wine at Laurel Canyon Country Store, drinking hemp ale in treehouses, pretending to be Bret Michaels, and ogling surfers in Venice Beach at dawn. STOP THE PRESSES!: Laura Jane's Recent Usurption of the Print Media Continues via CHELSEA
Chelsea is a brand-spankin', girly-cute mag edited and conceptualized by Chelsea of Cat Party, everybody's favourite vaguely-feline-themed fashion blog. It has the same sort of polka-dotted, tongue-in-cheek, red-lipsticked aesthetic as, say, Frankie or Lula, but is decidedly weirder (in the good way).
The premiere ish, available at St. Mark's Bookshop & Spoonbill & Sugartown in NYC and LA's Show Pony, features two never-before-read articles by yours truly (Laura Jane of nogoodforme.com!). The first is my pre-UFC take on fashion challenging myself, wherein I re-interpreted outfits worn by Claudia Kishi of The Babysitter's Club every day for a week and documented it (it's funny); the second is an elegy written upon the life and times of Lizzy Mercier Descloux, my favourite person in the world who isn't John Lennon, a member of the Fiery Furnaces, Ray Davies, or myself.
There's also tons of chill interviews, dirty horoscopes, and Ouija-board themed fashion spreads. Check it before you wreck it, bros!
