WTF/OMG: The Existence of Tinted Windows
WTF? James Iha and Taylor Hanson are in a band together? It seems like something that could only happen in one of the ngfm troika's weird pop culture-y dreams. But no- it happened in real life. They are called Tinted Windows.
The other members of the band are a dude from Fountains of Wayne and a dude from Cheap Trick. The dude from Stereogum really summed the whole thing up with "At worst, it's feeling like the Jonas Brothers if they could sing and featured a Smashing Pumpkin."
Pretty much. But weird, huh?

WTF/OMG: Katie Couric Meets Lil' Wayne
It's just way too easy to put something Lil Wayne-related in WTF/OMG; he's like a walking WTF/OMG, you know? Still, this Grammy special promo was almost too surreal and interesting not to mention. The WTF factor is totally met with the idea of Lil' Wayne bowling with Katie Couric, whose holding onto his arm or something like that! The OMG portion is even better: ignore the intro with those other losers and just make your way to the part (about 0:42) when Katie Couric asks Weezy what he'd ask George W. Bush about Hurricane Katrina. (I totally wish I could use that as my answer when someone asks me a question, but I have no talent for performative irony within me.) And it's even more interesting to hear how sincere and serious his answers are to questions about his dad and politics...ouch on all levels, man. I bet his upcoming "rock" record, Rebirth, is going to be one gigantic WTF/OMG -- the man is a Martian, he said so himself.

WTF/OMG: Art of Noise, "Moments in Love"
You know how your friends will email a link to something, and their only comment is "OMG!!!" And then you watch or listen or read it, and you email back: "WTF?!!!!" This new semi-regular (i.e., whenever we're up for it) category is at about that level of discourse.
This inaugural installment of WTF/OMG finds us exploring the bad 80s surrealism of Art of Noise's video for their synth-pop classic, "Moments in Love." Trust me, just watch this video -- you're going to WTF all over yourself. And if you can't spare 4 minutes of your day for this random cubicle amusement (or if you work for an evil company that blocks your YouTube), you can read my liveblog below just to get a small, minute, teeny-tiny flavor at how bizarre it all is.
